It's been a wild month, but first my explanation for the colored beads....I picked them up at a yard sale for the grandkids, but I had to take a picture first--I absolutely love the colors--but I had no idea where I could use it. Then I remembered that June is Pride Month, and voila! Perfect reason to flash my colors!
Other than that, I've hardly been out of my office in over a month. REDEMPTION is done and edits are done, and now it's with the copy editor where I'm hoping I won't have too many more things to fix--or "un-fix," as the case may be. Sometimes copy editors get just a bit carried away, and yes, that makes us all batshit crazy!
I'm working on AWAKENED, the third and--at this point, anyway--final book in my romantic suspense series, INTIMATE RELATIONS. For those of you who've read TANGLED, my novella in the HOT ALPHAS anthology, this third story is about Marcus Reed, the rather reclusive young millionaire who owns Intimate Wines in Dry Creek Valley. His character has opened up more and more through the first two books and the novella, which has been really fascinating for me as the author. When I first started the series, I had no idea he'd be anything other than an insignificant secondary character, but his personality really took over and his story is turning out to be absolutely unexpected and a lot of fun to figure out.
INTIMATE releases December 1, and we're going to be in Hawaii visiting our son and his family for Thanksgiving, so my publisher has graciously arranged for a book signing for me at the Barnes & Noble book store at the Ala Moana Mall in Honolulu. So, if you're in Honolulu on December 1, I'd love to see you! I am so excited to be going over to see the kids and grandkids--husband and I haven't been over together since 2010. Luckily our son and his crew make it to the mainland a couple of times a year, but it's the first chance I'll have to see our granddaughter surfing! Now that's exciting!!
I've been doing some reading--helps me deal with the stress, thank you very much--and just finished Paige Tyler's Her Wild Hero (X-Ops Book 3). It's really good, but I've become a true fan of Paige's storytelling. I'm currently reading Lindsey Piper's Hunted Warrior, the third book in her Dragon King's series. If you haven't tried this series, you're missing some wonderfully written paranormal romantic suspense. Lindsey, aka Carrie Lofty, is a truly skilled author. I still have JR Ward's The Shadow sitting here taunting me, but until I have a block of time to savor it, I'm going to have to wait.
As soon as I finish AWAKENED, I plan to start my next Spirit Wild story. Please don't give up on me! Then it's on to the next Feral Passions story (the first book will be out September 15) and before that, it's off to New York and the Romance Writers of America conference. If you can make it into the city, we'll have our huge literacy signing at the Marriott Marquis just off Times Square on Wednesday, July 22 at 5:30 in the evening. It's an experience you really can't believe if you've never gone before. Definitely a good time, and entry is free.
I'll be in NY from Tuesday night through Sunday morning (leaving for the airport around six a.m....yuck!) but if you can get into town on a different day and can stop by email me ahead of time and if at all possible, maybe we can hook up. I don't get out much, so it's always a thrill to get to meet readers who love to read as much as I do.
Best to you, and I'll come up with a contest next month after the conference--with any luck, I'll be able to get a bag of swag home to give away. All depends on how much luggage I can smuggle home!
