Readers often ask us where we get our ideas. Sometimes, it's in the least expected of places. In June 2010, my husband and I visited the Allen Array at Hat Creek. Part of the SETI (search for extraterrestrial intelligence) program, the array is a huge field of satellite dishes set to receive incoming signals from space. So, of course, my first thought was, "What if they were set to send signals? And what if those signals were the sexual fantasies of a group of trained telepaths, and..."
