Sorry to take so long, but I’ve had a head cold now for a week that’s just kicking my butt…via my head, obviously! Fell asleep last night before I got around to selecting winners, but my husband just took four copies of Dark Moon to the post office for Amber from Indiana, Brenda D. from Washington State, Ava from New Jersey, and Brenda B. from New York.

International winners Ann Q. and Karen D. will receive their ebooks once I find out what format they read. I really should request that info in the entry form!

Thanks to all of you for entering. Next contest in June. And now I need to get back to Dark Captive!

All the best, and I hope the next couple of weeks of crazy for moms in school (and almost out!) aren't too overwhelming. When possible, sneak away with a good book for some quiet time!

Be well,
Kate

My final book with St. Martin's Press releases tomorrow--Tuesday, May 16, 2017. HUNGER with Eve Langlais and AC Arthur has the final story in my Feral Passions series, Dangerous Passions. This one ties up the threads of the first two stories, Feral Passions and Wild Passions, and gives all my guys their happily ever after.

Those of you who've been reading my books for a while know that if I read a book and it doesn't have a good HEA, I probably won't read that author again. I NEED those happy endings, ergo, my books will always have them. I want that "big sigh" when I read -- or write -- the final words, and you'll get them with this story. If you haven't read it already in Claimed by the Mate Vol 3, and if you prefer print, this is the book you need. It's currently on sale at Amazon for $11.55--retails for $16.99, but it does have three complete category length novels in it.

In other news, I've started the next Spirit Wild story. I have a title already--Dark Captive--and two leading men for this one. Leo Cheval finally figures out why women don't like his "macho-take-charge-because-I'm-the-man" attitude, but it takes a bit of help from Anton, who doesn't always get it right, either. And there's another character also taking center stage--FBI Agent Remington Caruthers is one of those secondary characters I haven't been able to forget, and I figure that when a secondary pops into other books, there's a reason.

As I've explained before, I always start my stories by putting together my character studies, and in this particular book I only needed to find one total newby, but she's beautiful and desperate, and she's also the "captive" in the title. The other "kind of" new character is Shay Stone, Luc and Tia's daughter, twin sister to Cami. The girls were born in Wolf Tales 9, and I've not yet included them in stories as adults.

This is the first book in ages where I've really felt as if I know the characters, and understand their motivation. Whenever I start a book, if I get vivid scenes while I'm writing, I know I'm going to enjoy it, so if you don't see me on FB or tweeting or whatever, I'll probably be working on the book.

I also need to book my flight to Orlando for the RWA conference in July. If you're anywhere near that part of Florida, we'll be having the literacy signing on a Saturday night at the Walt Disney World® Dolphin Resort, in Pacific Hall. Follow the link for details.

This month I'm giving away a few copies of Dark Moon, the third book in the Spirit Wild series where Remington Caruthers is introduced. (I really like him!) He's also in Dark Terror, but I don't have extra print copies of that one, so Dark Moon it is. And, as I did in the last month's contest, I'll be sending ebook copies to international contest winners.

PLEASE--if you live in the US and want me to send you a print book, remember your zip code. I had to toss a winner last month because the address was incomplete, and as I've said, I don't have time to chase you down for the correct address.

I'm hoping to get some reviews posted after I send this off--so far, I'm getting terrific reviews for Dark Terror and we're already getting some excellent reviews for the new SMP book, Hunger. That one comes out tomorrow. It's a BIG book, and as I mentioned earlier, it's on sale at Amazon right now for $11.55--it retails for $16.99, so if you're planning to get this one in print, the price is fairly low right now. Hunger has three complete category length novels in it, and it's huge!

One quick note on what I've been reading--I'm hooked on Sonali Dev's books and have now read The Bollywood Bride, A Bollywood Affair, and A Change of Heart. They're all wonderful! She doesn't have a new one out until December, so It's gonna be a long wait. I've already read each of these at least twice--if you like multi-layered, heartwarming stories with a bit of spice (which in this case, could be curry...) you'll love Sonali's writing.

Another book from one of my favorite authors is THE GIRL WHO KNEW TOO MUCH, by Amanda Quick. This is a new historical era for JAK's alter ego, and takes place in the 1930s.
From the website (link in the cover to the left)
The author of the New York Times  bestseller ’Til Death Do Us Part enters a new historical era, the 1930s, with her latest historical hardcover romance set in Burning Cove, California, an idyllic small town on the coast that has become a refuge for Hollywood moguls and stars seeking privacy for scandalous trysts and wild parties…
I haven't read Jayne Ann Krentz aka Amanda Quick's newest one, but I've never read a book of hers I haven't loved, so I feel very comfortable recommending it.

Now I need to get back to Dark Captive. Love it when the writing is going well--that long dry spell while trying to write Dark Terror was really depressing. It's never happened before, and I really don't want it to happen again!

I hope all is well with you and that the crazy weather in your part of the world has settled down a bit. We actually had more rain yesterday--SO not what we're used to this time of year. I"m wearing my fleece tights, heavy socks and a long-sleeved shirt right now. It's running almost 20° below average for this time in May, and the heater is still running every morning. And yes, I'm a wuss before I've had my coffee--I want it WARM in the kitchen!

Take care, be well, and I hope you have plenty of time to read, because there's nothing that makes life go more smoothly than a good book. Probably why I've been reading Sonali's. They are just so much fun!

April 2017 newsletter contest winners!

Congratulations to Pam from Australia, Pamela from Pennsylvania, Misty from Colorado, and Kelly from Wisconsin, all winners of the April newsletter contest. Books will go in the mail tomorrow, and those of you who wanted ebooks will get a private email from me so I can find out what format you need.

Thanks to all of you for entering, and I do hope you're all safe. Weather reports tonight were flat out scary. There are parts of this country that just aren't getting a break, and I do hope you're all okay.

I'm just getting ready to send Wolf Tales 11 to my editor, we're talking about cover art for the re-released books, and I'm anxious to get them up and out. It won't be right away. The schedule now is August, October, and January for Wolf Tales 10, 11, and 12.

Take care all, and the print books will go out in tomorrow's mail. And Misty, you said you already have WT 9, so I'm sending a copy of VIII. Hope that's okay. Let me know if it's not. Which reminds me, there's always the option of requesting a different book than the one I'm offering. If I have a copy, I'm perfectly happy sending a different one. Just let me know on your entry form.

All the best to you,
Kate

I'm a romance author--I really love those happy endings, though I don't mind putting my characters through pure, unadulterated hell before they get there...

       Newsletter Contest:
Contests are back! I'm not totally settled, but really miss giving things away, so ready or not, I'm going to start slow. International entries are welcome, though I will have to limit International winners to ebooks. Postage costs are just too high. Your addresses will not be shared or sold--I respect your privacy. I will only collect addresses if I am giving away print books. I won't be doing that as much because I've got very few print books left in my stash, but I do have other things!
