September 2016 Contest Winners!

9/22/2016

Congratulations to my winners! Wow--LOTS of entries this month for the ARCs of WILD--I'm really sorry I only have three of them, though I should have a few books by next month that I can give away, so if you're not a winner this month, be sure to watch for next month's newsletter.

Winners chosen via Random.org are Beth from Pennsylvania, Fedora from California, and Dee from Ontario, Canada. I'll be getting the books in the mail tomorrow so you should have them within a week.

Thank you so much to everyone for entering. One of the ARCs is "gently read" because I needed to read the stories by the other two authors. They're good!! I absolutely love AC Arthur's sexy menage, and Eve Langlais puts her poor shifter through an awful lot before he can claim his mate. There's still one more book in the series, at least for my Feral Passions series--I'm not sure about the other two authors, but the third will be my final one at Feral Passions, and trust me, none of the guys will remain un-mated!

My best to all of you--be well, stay safe, and always find time to read!

IF YOU ENTER THE CONTEST, I NEED YOUR PHYSICAL MAIL ADDRESS
                                                  IN THE ENTRY, NOT EMAIL

This photo was taken at EC Manning Provincial Park in British Columbia, proof that we actually did make it into Canada, though we weren't there nearly long enough! Everything we saw was beautiful, and it was really hard to turn around and head south. We are definitely going back!
This next shot is one Doug took of me on the same hike the top photo is from. We actually didn't take as many photos as we usually do--we were too busy looking at everything, "oohing and aahing!"

I've been working steadily on Dark Terror since we got back--the story is coming together, though not as quickly as I'd like. Please be patient, and don't give up on me! One of the things that's taking me so long is that I've been away from the characters for so long now that I'm having to go back and constantly reread older stories to remember what they've been up to! The era of multi-tasking is obviously behind me.

One thing I do when my writing isn't working as well for me is that I read, and over the past month or so I've read some really wonderful books. I'm a huge fan of BookBub, and I love trying "new to me" authors via the free or $.99 books. A couple of weeks ago, I downloaded one called SHIVER, a M/M story that's the first in the Unbreakable Bonds series by Rinda Elliott and Jocelynn Drake. I read the first book and could not put it down, so I grabbed a collection of short novellas called LUCAS, and raced through that one and I still wanted more, so I bought the second novel in the series, SHATTER. Read that one twice, then went back and reread SHIVER and LUCAS. Point being, these are terrific books with a lot of action and sexy guys you can't ignore.

These two women write such compelling characters that they really do come to life within the pages. Their next in the series, TORCH, comes out October 25, and without even reading it I know I can recommend it. The link at their names above will take you to their website. If you enjoy a good romance with powerful men and love the dynamic of a well-written M/M story, you'll end up as hooked on this series as I am!

Then, because I was feeling guilty for spending so much time reading instead of writing, I went for something short and bought a new short story by Lex Valentine--I'm on an M/M kick, I guess, but her .99 short, FLYING IN THE FACE OF CONVENTION left me smiling. It's short--around 7000 words, but I got my reading fix with a truly "feel good" story, and still got a couple of thousand words written that day!

I started writing this newsletter Thursday night and was just going through email and rereading for errors when I checked my newest BookBub ad--and there was one for Devyn Quinn's book, FALLEN! I've known Devyn since I started at Kensington a gazillion years ago, and have always loved her writing. This book is listed at .99--I highly suggest you take a look. Her writing is intensely emotional, and her stories dark and thrilling. I've always loved her work, and it's good to see Devyn back writing after a bit of a hiatus.

I've added a link to Devyn's website--she's giving away a 7"Kindle Fire -- the contest is open for a few more hours, but click on the cover and you'll see if you can still enter.

Here's a clip of a review for Fallen: Adrien was once a vampire hunter — but now he’s a member of the undead. At war with his very nature, he must risk everything for Cassie, a mortal woman who loves him without fear… “If you’re looking for a wild ride, this is it." RT Book Reviews

I actually bought a full-priced book for a change (I really do love BookBub!) mainly because I am incapable of passing up anything by Nalini Singh. If you read Nalini's Psy/Changeling series, you'll love this collection of four brand new novellas. They're mostly about secondary characters from the series, but the stories are each so wonderfully unique that if you're a Nalini Singh fan, you won't want to miss them. And if you're not yet a fan and want to get a feel for her amazing series, this is a great place to start.

Another book coming out in October is Robyn Carr's newest women's fiction, THE LIFE SHE WANTS. I talked about it last month, but I don't want anyone to miss it! It's Robyn at her best and I can guarantee an absolutely wonderful read. (I've read it four times already.)

One special book releasing September 27 is the last in Susan Fox's Caribou Crossing series, HOLIDAY IN YOUR HEART. I am going to be so sad when this series is over, but Susan's working on a brand new series set on an island off the British Columbian mainland. Doug and I visited Susan and her guy on Vancouver Island and spent a wonderful day out on their boat, so I've got a better feel for what the setting for the new series will be like.

HOLIDAY IN YOUR HEART
received a starred review from Publisher's Weekly, who said: Fox knows just how to spin a sweet (and slightly spicy) romance with plenty of heartstring tugging and Christmas cheer.”

One of the coolest things about being an author is that you get to know other authors, and even better is just how much fun, how smart and creative and absolutely unique, each of these authors is. Yasmine Galenorn is one of those truly special people with a beautifully warped mind, and I say that as a total compliment. Her stories amaze me, and since she's "gone indy," as so many longtime traditionally pubbed authors are doing, her imagination has soared even higher and brighter. This is the first in her new FURY UNBOUND series. I love this line, still need to read the book:

"My name is Kaeleen Donovan. I'm a Theosian-a minor goddess. They call me Fury."

Why couldn't I have been named Fury? Damn...life is so unfair!!! You can read more on Yasmine's website. Link is on the cover of the book.

I guess I should probably mention my own book coming out October 4--WILD is releasing with three full-length novels from Eve Langlais, AC Arthur, and me. This book has the second in my Feral Passions trilogy, WILD PASSIONS. I've got links for preordering on my website along with the first chapter of Wild Passions. I'm currently reading one of the ARCs I got for the series and I can tell you that AC Arthur's story is one hot menage! I'm about halfway through it, and then want to read Eve Langlais's story.

I'm giving away three advance reader copies of WILD this month. (One will have been "slightly" used by me...) The one thing I ask is that if you enter and win, that you please leave a review at either Goodreads or Amazon.com or one of the other usual review sites. Even if you hate the book, I really do need to get reviews for the ARCs, so I'd ask that if you really don't want to review, that you not enter this month. I'll have print copies of the edited version next month for my contest, so you can wait to enter for one of those--and I won't beg for reviews for any of those, though I certainly won't turn one down! And please, if you do leave a review, let me know. I've used blurbs from a lot of them on my website, and they're always appreciated.

So, there you have it! I've been traveling and reading and writing and I've got a couple of new characters in Dark Terror that I think you'll like. You got a quick excerpt in last month's newsletter but more about my guys: Ari and Reko are Berserkers--wolves who have never had the Tibetan grasses that allow Chanku to shift. These twin brothers--since they're Berserkers--were born wolves and have always lived as wolves, though they have the minds of sentient men. They're taking the capsules now with the grasses that will help them finally shift, and I can't wait to see what they're like when they finally walk on two legs and have to learn to act human on occasion. Oh, and Reko's got a problem. He's been invaded by a demon who doesn't appear to realize he's trying to possess a sentient creature. I think it's going to be interesting, but it's all going to hit the fan in a very big way over the next few days writing!

I hope all of you are well, that the weather isn't making you crazy. I was just watching the news about a hurricane forming over land in Florida, obviously not the way they usually develop. It's all just a little bit crazy, so please, be safe and be well, and don't forget to enter on the form that says "Contest Entry Form." On the webpage it's to the right, and on your phone it's probably at the very bottom, AFTER the comments section. Do not enter on my Facebook page or in the comments.

This contest will end Thursday because we have a bunch of stuff going on over the weekend and I don't want to forget to draw the winners and get the prizes mailed. Until then, I do hope you find time for reading. There are SO MANY good books out there now. We really have entered an entirely new era in publishing, and it's a great time to be a reader.

Will check back with you when it's time to announce my winners!

I'm a romance author--I really love those happy endings, though I don't mind putting my characters through pure, unadulterated hell before they get there...

       Newsletter Contest:
Contests are back! I'm not totally settled, but really miss giving things away, so ready or not, I'm going to start slow. International entries are welcome, though I will have to limit International winners to ebooks. Postage costs are just too high. Your addresses will not be shared or sold--I respect your privacy. I will only collect addresses if I am giving away print books. I won't be doing that as much because I've got very few print books left in my stash, but I do have other things!
