It's definitely embarrassing that I started this book on March 28, 2018, but life really got in the way, big time. I can't even blame the pandemic. It's all on me and I feel like I'm coming out of a rather dark hole in the ground, but Dark Stranger is done and I'm pleased with the way it turned out. I had a lot of days where I doubted if I'd be able to finish, but by that time, I'd realized I needed Anton back, my steadfast muse who always knows what's good for everyone in the pack. I count myself among them--unfortunately without the shapeshifting ability and all the good stuff that goes along with it!
Luckily, Anton's on my side. I went back and reread some of my older Wolf Tales books and that's how I rediscovered my voice. As an author, writing words that sound like someone else slapped them down on the page is devastating, but a couple of months reading my own writing reminded me how I did this. So, I finished the book and it was off to my beta readers, and from their wonderful suggestions (and more than a few corrections) I ended up with a manuscript in good enough shape to send to my editor. I've never met Fedora Chen in person, but I've liked her online persona from the start, and when I learned she was editing I essentially begged her to take on Dark Stranger. Knowing she was already familiar with the series made me really comfortable with her edits, which were terrific, and then it was up to me...and again, I felt stuck. There is a wonderful young woman (Sheri Brooks of Purple Papaya LLC) who uploads my indy titles, but that's not actually writing, right? It took me forever to get my butt in gear and the material to a point where I felt comfortable sending it to Sheri for publication. She's so quick about getting things done that I suddenly had links and presale information and a release date. My head is still spinning, but even if it spins right off, Sheri can handle it.
Dark Stranger isn't my only news. Once I take a breath, Dream Catchers is ready to go up for sale. This re-release is close to my heart, a favorite erotic S/F series of an opening novella, and two tightly connected novels...as in, the first one ends and the second begins in a 24 hour span of time. Because the series is so tightly connected, I'm planning to release all three in a bundle for the same price. The best part is, I already have the cover and it's perfect.
Thank you, Dar Albert of Wicked Smart Designs.
One thing I can say, I'm getting more muscles than I've had in years! And I'm probably in better shape...
I'm not doing a contest today because I've got way too much to do to get my website up to date for the release. I FINALLY have a Dark Stranger page! Really.
There are three chapters for you to check out.
