After coffee with friends, we headed north with plans to </B></div> <div> <B>take Highway 138 along the scenic Umpqua River. We were already committed to the route when we discovered</B></div> <div> <B>the highway was closed due to a forest fire. That meant a change in plans, so we went east, through Crater Lake </B></div> <div> <B>and then north again to Highway 58 and a drive through the Willamette National Forest. We stayed over at a </B></div> <div> <B>gorgeous campsite on Lake Odell and then went almost all the way to Eugene before heading south to visit with</B></div> <div> <B>Doug's brother and sister-in-law near Oakland, Oregon. (Just three days later, Highway 58 was closed due to a </B></div> <div> <B>forest fire!
