RT CONVENTION 2007
Sunday night, 4/28/07 This RT was absolutely a hoot, but it's almost midnight, I have to be up by five and will be heading home tomorrow. It's been a long week but a wonderful chance to see old friends and meet new ones. I'm sorry I didn't get pictures posted sooner, but there are very few "free" minutes at this convention! If you were here and have photos I can add to my collection, please email me at kate@katedouglas.com My only complaint would be the smoke---and I hope the next RT is held in a hotel that is either smoke free or has someplace to get away from it. Even here in my room on the eleventh floor in the Houston Hyatt Regency Hotel, it seeps in under the doors. My roommate suffered an asthma attack and had to leave a full day early, while other attendees were unable to participate in the activities due to the excessive smoke in the air. It has been a black mark on an otherwise perfect gathering.
If you can add a name to any of the photos, please let me know!

Elaine made my conference extra special! She brought a huge stack of my books for me to sign. I loved it!!!
Right: Eve Vaughn at the Faery Ball. She looked gorgeous...as usual!
|
|
Cathy Clamp and Fredericka Meiner--dueling wings?
Right: Tawny Taylor and Judy Mays. Tawny won the costume contest--she looked gorgeous, and the costume she made was absolutely stunning! (The train was pure white peacock feathers--from the local petting zoo!) Judy won the RT Reviewer's Top Pick award--and I need to check with her again to see what category it was in. Congrats, JUDY!

Loved the costumes, but it wasn't easy for the waiters to serve dinner and dodge wings!!!
Flash, in her usual conservative outfit...not! She looked amazing, as usual!

Samantha Kane's little one was the most bright-eyed fairy at the ball...

.....for awhile.

I don't have names for the ones wearing these gorgeous costumes, so if you know who they are, please write and tell me! kate@katedouglas.com

Table decorations were eclectic, to say the least~and the food was very good!
|
Loved the way the butterfly wings carried over...
|
|
Dessert was almost too pretty to eat...but I managed.
|
Kat Fish -- and yes, the one who ID'd her swears that's her name. I love it! Gorgeous costume, too.

Tawny's was by far the most outstanding and I'm so glad she won. She makes her own costumes, and this one was amazing....She told us the peacock molted while she was at the petting zoo, and the attendant gave her the tail feathers! Talk about perfect timing!!!

Rachelle Chase (Kensington Aphrodisia) looked absolutely stunning!

Author Anne Elizabeth organized a wonderful bookseller's event. I was one of the sponsors, but can't take any credit for the wonderful job she did. Anne's the one in the black leather corset...and damn but she looks good!

|
|
Two VERY IMPORTANT PEOPLE! Sharon Murphy and Jo Carol Jones...I'm amazed they're still sane so many days into RT!

Booksellers were lined up and ready to come in. We had stacks of books, great munchies and prizes.

I had all my Wolf Tales titles at the BookFair and a steady line of folks grabbing copies--it was a blast, especially
when readers showed up with their own copies of the books for me to sign!
