We got up to a beautiful, unbelievably COLD morning, had breakfast and packed up the rig.
Then we drove a couple miles to Highway 395 and headed south to the June Lake Loop.
We were looking for fall color--most of the leaves were just dry and brown without the
brilliant shades we'd hoped to see, but we did see some color near June Lake.

We stopped to take pictures of June Lake.
Mono Lake has always been a favorite spot for us.
We'd heard about the beaver dams at Lundy Lake, but we had no idea how big they were--or how many!
I could have stayed here a week--the dams are everywhere, and so sturdy and well-built. Absolutely amazing. (and it was warm and sunny...a huge plus!)

These aspen the beaver have cut down are a good eight inches across--the picture at right is a beaver lodge.

We decided to make camp early and stayed at Lundy Lake campground.
Mule deer wandered into camp to check us out. They didn't seem at all afraid. Much larger than our coast deer at home.
