January 2, 2004--
I love this picture Doug took on January 2. We had about 2" of snow fall during the day...little flurries, then it would clear up and get sunny, then snow again. It was absolutely gorgeous.

See if you can spot the five bucks that were in our yard Saturday morning! Two on the left by the wine barrell pond, two just to the right of them and one down in the front eating apples. This was taken with my little digital camera just at dawn, so the light isn't very good, but we had at least a dozen deer come through the yard. Bucks and does were separate--these are all bucks. Most of them have little spike antlers, though the one in the upper left has a pretty good rack.

Posted September 3, 2003--

Here's an update of what we've been doing up at Cobb. Below are photos taken from the back deck. That brown "box" is the hot tub in the shot on the left. The rock formation hides a small pond. There's another pond in ths shot on the right, in the middle of the photo, and a water filled wine barrel above and to the right. Now there're mosquito fish swimming in them!               (Until yesterday, they were full of mosquito larvae!)

The photo on the left was taken AFTER we cleaned out the weeds and Doug removed a wire fence surrounding an overgrown garden. We'd rather let the deer eat the plants than look at weed covered wire and steel posts! The photo on the right is looking down the front steps. Remember, this is September...the DRY time of year! It's so green up here it's just gorgeous.

The shot on the left is looking South toward Cobb Mtn. over our neighbor's house. The one on the right is of the view to the north of our property.

This is what's left of the wall we removed between the kitchen and living room. We need to redirect the duct for the air conditioner and run a header across the top before we can remove the studs and open it all up to build the bar. At this point, we're just taking up furniture that we can toss when the remodeling is done, which explains our "decor," or lack thereof! The buck in the picture on the right is one of our regular visitors--he comes to drink out of the "wine barrel pond," then sleeps in a little stand of cedar trees by the fence.

check out the improvements!
