Geyserville
12-11-02  This is what I did today when I should have been writing! Hard to believe it's the middle of December, but this really is typical northern California wine country weather!

This is the trail on the ridge above our house on Dry Creek--the photos below
are of California holly. It's absolutley gorgeous this year.

The photo below is looking toward Healdsburg, the closest real
town, twelve miles southeast of us. The photo to the right just
continues the walk.

The photo below to the right is looking down into a redwood
grove on the back side of our hill.
The four small redwoods below are growing out of an old stump.

Just above the redwood grove is a madrone forest. The trees are
absolutely gorgeous with the peeling red bark.

I took a different way down the trail from the top of the ridge. It was getting cloudy so I wanted to beat the rain home!

The trail in the photo below is brand new--it's been made by a herd of wild pigs...the vineyard has NOT been plowed. That's what pigs can do in a single night. Luckily, they've stayed away from our yard!
This is the back of our house. My office is just behind the van, in the right corner of the house.
The oak was about five hundred years old. It died during the winter of 2004-05 and had to be taken down. I've been wondering if the thick roots from the poplar trees planted around the driveway led to it's demise.
