Thanksgiving in Boston    |   home

Jon & Mel's 1st Thanksgiving
Doug, Kate, Sarah, Tony and Luca arrived in Boston on Monday, Carol, Mike and Cody on Tuesday, Andrew late Wednesday night, Peter and Emily on the redeye from San Diego at 8:00 AM Thanksgiving morning, and Ashley either Wednesday or Thursday...she arrived at the Bocci Ball court with Adam Thursday morning. We had a wonderful week, doing our best to adhere to Melanie's carefully orchestrated "Schedule of Spontaneous Events," which included a trip to Plymouth Rock for some, hiking around Boston and a trip to Cambridge for others...the weather was gorgeous and it was a perfect week, which continued on even after the Moores and Pastenes left on Friday.

At the Bocci Ball court Thanksgiving morning...

Thanksgiving Dinner started with wine and cheese in Doug, Kate, Sarah, Tony and Luca's 5th floor suite at  the B&B...

Then moved over to Jon and Mel's apartment on Cleveland Avenue

Peter kept Adam out of trouble...

Andrew kept busy...

The cook remained in motion throughout the preparation period...

Jon, Kate, Carol, Melanie and Emily--excited about dinner?

The guests waited patiently in Jon and Mel's living room for the sound of the dinner bell...

And finally we all sat down to a wonderful Thanksgiving feast on the impromtu dining room set up in the bedroom! Mel and her dad, Mike, prepared dinner, and it was spectacular.

After dinner, we all walked back to the Mork floor of the B&B for pie, cannoli, assorted candies and a whole lot more calories...I was never more thankful for having to climb numerous flights of stairs...after dessert, a bunch of the group meandered back up to the Moore-floor...at which point, Luca took over the show.

It's a good thing Uncle Jon's a good catcher...

Luca was telling everyone to "DANCE!" At which point, everyone would dance. Then he'd raise his hand and shout STOP! And the dancing would stop...the child definitely got off on a power trip!

All good times must end some day...from subway, to shuttle bus...then on to the airplane, the sky train and home...but we had a wonderful time.
